Reclaiming Awkward.

Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name.

I’m a sailor peg
And I’ve lost my leg
Climbing up the top sails
I lost my leg!

I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping up to Boston whoa
I’m shipping off…to find my wooden leg!

-Dropkick Murphys

You know what, let’s not stop at lyrics. Here’s the video:

That’s right, I’m heading back to New England today. Kennedy the misfit beagle and I will be driving 14 hours to Boston to stay with my brother until next Wednesday. After that I’ll make my way up to New Hampshire for a friend’s wedding. I’m wicked pumped to be back in Beantown. It’s been way too long – since December 2007 *makes boo-boo face*.

I’ve already decided to spend a full day around Boston Common and the Public Gardens with Kennedy since it’s my favorite place in the world. Then we will make our pilgrimage to Mecca – I mean Fenway Park – where the Citgo sign lights up like a beacon to all Sox fans. After walking around Yawkey Way, I will head back to my brother’s place, grab a legitimate cup of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and watch the Departed. I’m so excited to be sharing Boston with Kennedy, who was named after Boston royalty, after all.

Because I’m sooooooo excited about being in the city of overthrown tea, one-if-by-land-two-if-by-sea, David Ortiz, the Big Dig (that is finally done digging… should be referred to as the Big Dug), Make Way for Ducklings and the Zakim bridge, here is a photo homage to the city where I was born:

Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall

Paul Revere at the entrance to Boston Public Gardens.

A historic Boston neighborhood.

Boston Common

Esplanade with boats on the Charles River. (This is where they have the annual 4th of July celebration.)

The worst and my favorite subway trains in the world – The T!

Championship banners hang outside Fenway Park.

The Zakim Bridge – a new addition from the Big Dig project.

See you guys in a week.
